Spain 2026 - Day 29 - Wednesday April 1 2026 - Wash Day - Bag storage to Guinns, Final meeting, Angus Burgers

As we leave tomorrow, we had lots to do.  I had a bunch of stuff to be offered for donation.  Some of this stuff needed to be washed.  I'm not giving away a stinky shirt.  Thankfully Michelle was cool with doing a bunch of laundry.  I essentially had 3 piles of stuff.

1 Storage for Brian at Guinn's

2 Donations

3 Camino

After breakfast I headed off to Guinn's by train.  To save my new rollers wheels I carried this bag.  It was heavy with quite a bit of clothes purchased only from Malaga for Malaga.  Brian was washing his floor when I walked in.  He hesitated to accept my 100 Euros but I could see secretly he was happy to receive it.  Things are getting expensive in Spain with the was not far away.  Numbers are down for him so it felt good to offer him this money as it saved me a bunch

I walked back to the hotel to get my steps in.  Michelle did a great job with the laundry.  Once more walk up the hill to donate a bunch of stuff.  It was so nice to have a place to provide the random things we no longer need.  Much of it was new and unused.  I'm sure it will soon be appreciated by others.

With storage and donations done, we had time to do our final pack and cleanup before Carl's 5:30 final meeting at the carvery.  Our entire group took up the front of the restaurant for drinks while Carl prepared.  We were invited to talk with a Camino traveller before we left for the evening.  They had a gift for us.  Eek I thought.  I hope it was not heavy.

I had no idea how Carl would be able to talk over the noise.    Thankfully when he started talking the noise was from us so it became pretty quiet.

Carl explained the logistics of how people were to leave their checked bags outside their door only after a particular time in the morning.  They might wind up on another bus otherwise.

Carl was kind enough to call out Michelle and I for leaving tomorrow on our next adventure of over 800 KM's, that was cool.  sAfter Carl's meeting I learned our gift from our Camino friend were 2 Renfe Open access train cards with 6 days left on them. It was a kind gift.  I learned later these were monthly passes that were NOT transferrable.  Ownership is based on ID which we did not match.  Oh well it was a kind offer.

This couple was kind enough to offer them with advice about an issue with the Malaga to Madrid Train.  There mentioned they were here earlier and found out the high speed train has required a bus route to bypass some damaged track.  I did not notice this at the time of ticket purchase.  Eek, time to do more research.

Michelle and I were going to dinner at a local Irish pub.  I was hard to leave our Seniors Tour family of 1 month.  Before Carl got too far away we gave him a nice tip.  Then we were inundated by well wishes and hugs from so many of the group.  It was great.

I originally thought a traditional seaside fish dinner would be great for our last Malaga meal but for simplicity we decided to try one of the thousand Irish bars for a Guinness and burger.  What a great place we chose.  Excellent burger and fries.  I was stuffed.

I had just enough time to Gemini the Malaga to Madrid train bypass and got more comfortable with an early train arrival.  I planned a 5:30 AM alarm, 6:00 AM Bolt.  This would give us an hour to figure out what is happening at the Train station.  Yellow shirts were to provide guidance to busses.  Off to bed we went.  We both slept like crap waiting for the alarm :-)

I took no pics, hopefully Michelle did
