Spain 2026 - Day 31 - Friday April 3 2026 - Breakfast in Irun, Credential Del Peregrino, Plan our First Camino Day

We had both intended to test our climbing skills on this day for training.  Neither of us slept well so it made sense to chill and do some research.  Our host wanted to serve us Coffee/Tea but we insisted on getting on our feet.  A little Googling found a nice place for breakfast in Irun.  We wound up back tracking what we walked upon hours earlier in the dark

GooDS Café Bakery was not to far of a walk and well worth it

The official Irun Pilgrim starting point is the Jakobi Pilgrim Hostel.  Normally open in the afternoon, we took a chance to walk to it to possibly get our stamp.  Thankfully we learned they have a self stamping machine outside.  Yay our first stamps.

We walked home along the coast waterfront towards Église Saint-Vincent.  I was hoping there we could get another stamp but we found nobody to help, boo

On our walk home we decided it was time to cut our Hendaye time short.  The weather here was unusually warm with rains not many days in the future.  Taking advantage of these warm days made safer walking for us.
Our Airbnb host might have been upset we were leaving early.  We learned then her husband had passed in February.  We offered our condolences and reassured her our desire to leave was in no means indicative of her hosting skills.  It was simply to get ahead of the upcoming weather.  We insisted wanted no Airbnb refund and she was to keep everything.

After chilling for a bit it wat time to grab some dinner and road food for the next days travels.  Thankfully a Lidl was close which offered everything we needed.  After our purchase a walk along the beautiful waterfront was a no brainer.  Yummy was our fresh bread with meat and cheese before our final evening in Hendaye.
