We slept amazing in Villafranca Monte de Oca. Not much was open in the morning but we were able to meet other Pilgrims in the kitchen for our breakfast preparations. I've been sharing with everyone some Urban walking avoidance with notes to follow. This involved sharing WhatsApp contact info providing a future communication link.
The walk out of Villafranca is up for quite a while. It was nice to quickly escape the drone of trucks and cards passing the tiny village streets. Once above the city, it was quite a while before the next sign of civilization. We walked across a man calling himself Dr Coffee claiming to have the best coffee ever.
He drove 10 KM's to the Camino where we had completed a long stretch with nothing. Setup there was a few tables, many chairs, tunes, fruit, Turkish Coffee and other wondaful goodies. Everything was donation based. In asking how he was he mentioned he had cried twice today. His back story was interesting. He was a Topologist working with the City. The 2008 financial crisis spilled into the Spanish economy put him and others out of work. I believe he started another business only for that to fail. Now he runs his little Camino Donation table to pass the times and love. He was a great inspiration.
A little further down the trail we saw a Pilgrim go for a selfie with some cattle resting in the sun. So dumb. I waiting with camera in hand to film the next Darwin moment. They survived and walked to fast to get a talking too. Oh well.
I wish I could remember more. I've writing this many days in the future. These days and villages are blurring together. Without some picture evidence, the memories of when they occurred are already faded.
