Spain 2026 - Day 20 - Monday March 23 2026 - Granada and the Alhambra

Getting to Granada was a longer bus ride.  I have some time to blog some earlier days.  We were told to expect colder weather so many of us were wearing and bringing warmer clothes.  Lucky enough we were to experience a very sunny and warm quick tour of the city.  I had to switch into cooler clothes.  As the Alhambra tour was longer, the Granada tour was pretty quick.

I wish we had time to stop for some cool shopping chances.  There was a small thin strip of shops perhaps only 1 meter wide.  Owners from Africa selling really unusual stuff, just so beautiful.  We got to see and feel the cooling effect of having patio's.  The heat of the summer can get insane.  A great to cool the home is with open patios at the entrance of your home.  It was shockingly effective.

The short drive to the Alhambra took us up higher into the mountain.  There we split into 2 groups each with a professional guide.  The tour itself is over 2 hours with plenty of walking.  With land ownership changes over the years it was wonderful to see the new Alhambra owners respected the impressive architecture left behind by those that were conquered.

I understand it's quite hard to get a ticket to this place.  We were very lucky our tour company has such a size.  These tickets are sold out for months out.  I can see why.  Make visiting this place a priority.
