This was our first official tour date with bus and all. I decided to commit to a 7:00 am wakeup and 7:30 breakfast for all days. This gives us plenty of time to enjoy the morning and be ready in the lobby at 8:45 or any activity planned for the day. Breakfast has so many options it's like a cruise ship. I'm sticking to healthy for all meals. We need to use this time for training our bodies for the Camino. The bus ride to Marbella was not very long. During the drive, we listened to Marie our Spanish tour guide talk about so many things We saw the Spanish countryside for the first time. So beautiful. We passed under a Gondola that will become a future adventure. Driving into the core of Marbella our bus drivers skill was noted. These are very tight streets with winding roads and roundabouts.
After departing our bus, Maria let us into a very old part of town steeped in history. What a step back in time. It was so weird to walk out of this space back to the more modern part of the city. We had a little free time and Carl our tour manager offered to buy us all a coffee. Carl normally uses another location that is well equipped for over 20 people to randomly show up. As it was Sunday, many shops were closed. A shop we did find were happy to accommodate us but a little overwhelmed. That's ok. The coffee was great. Carl walked around with a Polaroid type camera grabbing photos of the group which was so nice. After this short break it was a short bus trip to Puerto Banús. Oh man what a sick amount of money lives in this city. We walk through the marina looking a expensive boats and shops that are so disconnected from reality. I was kind of glad to leave that place. Just not my cup of tea.
The bus ride home was super quick and just in time for lunch. After lunch I decided to do some CBD/THC research for a sleep aid. There are a noticeable amount on Cannibis stores in this part of Spain. It turns out these stores are legally not allowed to sell products high in THC. Spain is in a weird spot WRT the sale and ownership of products higher in THC. It is slightly decriminalized and consumption in legal in private. People are also allowed to grow. Strangely access to purchasing can only be done through Clubs that require a membership. Finding these clubs is a bit weird but it's not that difficult. Thankfully a club was a 1 minute walk from our hotel.
I threw caution to the wind, walked to the address buzzed the buzzer and waited. Some helpful members of an adjacent Irish bar helped us with push not pull of the door. Another push door was behind that and finally we were in. There were 2 people inside and a tone of smoke. These guys were current owners and kind of baked. We apologized for our poor Spanish and learned they were not. They were both from the UK as many in this part of Spain were. We chatted about the law, the current situation in Spain, what it's like in Canada. These 2 had just taken over the business having only reopened it in March. Perfect timing for us. Membership requires a passport but no payment. Hope that is ok in our future. We will be back to check on them for sure.
