I only packed for the Camino. This meant wicking T-Shirts, Fleece layers and Marino wool for cool days
I did bring a few T-Shirts and short sleeved dressy shirts for day hikes but I wanted to grab something more local.
I asked Gemini what is the traditional look in Malaga. Apparently the trend is a nice short sleeve dress shirt, a V neck T-shirt, nice pants and shoes with a belt.
The V-neck t-shirt is to take away attention from the t-shirt and towards a nice belt above a tucked in shirt. Gemini gave me a few stores in Malaga that sold affordable and common fashion.
The C1 Train station to Malaga is only a few KM's away on a nice steep hill. Since we had 2 days off to relax, I figured today would be a perfect shopping day.
Unfortunately my morning breakfast went a little funny with a hard seed in my cereal. Crack went a Lateral Incisor that had been previously weakened by a root canal.
I hopped it was temporary but it wiggled in a funny way indicating it was truly broken. I now added Oregano Oil to my Malaga shopping list, bummer
We walked up to the C1 train station after breakfast and passed a couple only to find them later at the train station. They were struggling with the train ticket machine so I gave them a lesson.
We talked later found out Monica and Giovani were from Montreal. They were heading to Torremolinos so we chatted until they departed. Monica was there many years earlier. What a change she will soon see.
The C1 headed towards Malaga actually stops in Central Malaga although the stop name we saw and the actual stop name were different. Thankfully some locals witnessed our confusion and indicated it was the last stop. It was quite an exodus getting off this train.
The first Gemini store suggestion was easy to find but super fancy. The next Gemini suggestion, Malaga man was deeper in a cool part of town. Cobblestone streets not wide enough for cars littered with fancy shops and restaurant's were slowly filling up with locals and tourist for lunch.
Malaga Man found soon after was once again way way too expensive. Gemini needs a boot to the head. Even Marks and Spencer found later was a gouge. Oh well. Mike introduced me earlier to our Hotels store owner and his 15 pound shirts were looking pretty good
Our Malaga trip was not in vein, We passed a really nice looking Health Food/Pharmacia and headed back for Oil of Oregano and possibly some sleep aids for Michelle. I walked right past the Oil of Oregano and was directed by a helpful employee. They had drops and gels.
I took a chance with drops and the helpful staff member handed me with a warning some really strong drops. After paying I immediately tried to dispense some just outside the store and OMG, they were insane. I hope they tamp down any infection risk until I can see a dentist.
Luckily the area of concerned has no issues with pain or swelling. Our first Malaga shopping experience was done so we headed back to the Train and Hôtel. It was nice to be able to wait for a train that would empty out.
We waited at the back which became the front and enjoyed a nice journey in a comfortable chair. It's really nice to take the train while witnessing the local people, culture and landscapes.
Having not found any shirts, I waited for the hotel shop to open. After finding is opens only at 6:30, I found Mike and Donna enjoying happy hour with the rest of the crew prior to dinner. Mike insisted on hitting the store with me. It took a few visits to and from the change room but thankfully 3 comfortable local shirts were finally acquired, yay.
I still needed some V-neck undershirts, nicer pants, a thin fleece and some other random things. I got sick of inefficient shopping and sadly decided to pivot to Amazon. The hotel staff confirmed ordering Amazon to the Hotel was a pain. If nobody is present to sign, it wont get delivered. It took a while to switch to Amazon.es and sort out an Amazon pickup box at a nearby BP station. Once that address was set, delivery times were only a few days into the future. Gemini helped me find a thin fleece (not thin it turned out) undershirts, nice pants and some Keto bars for Michelle. I pulled the trigger noting pickup is March 10. Yay time to hit the bed.
